We work with growing companies to implement logistics technology and get them live!
GoBlock started its logistics technology consulting practice in 2022. We have been in this industry since 1995.
Below are a dozen examples of the types of work performed by our team members.
Increasing Capacity. Engineered emergency operational improvements for the upcoming summer season. At the end of the project, outbound shipping production doubled allowing shipments to keep pace with demand.
Improving Cost. Led a client and consultant team to reengineer a custom embroidery operation for highly seasonal and branded merchandise. This resulted in a four-fold increase in output per person-hour and the elimination of all second-shift operations.
Building Automation. Led a large team in the implementation of a 1.5 million square foot distribution center including a fleet of over 30 multi-purpose AGVs, cross belt sorter, and gantry robotics. Showcase project for Modern Materials Handling magazine.
Customizing Systems. Program-managed a DC retrofit with new automation including a highly customized warehouse execution system (WES). Facilitated the design of functionality and quality control. The retro facility shipped 60% more orders with 60% less labor.
Validating Design. Implemented the acceptance testing program of a multi-channel 1.4 million square feet distribution center. Highly automated facility with many case sorters, cross belt sorter, pick modules, and a goods-to-person shuttle system.
Upgrading Capability. Directed a client team in developing warehouse management system (WMS) go-live plans and testing criteria. Oversaw testing progress and validated results. Manufacturer set a record for shipments at Go Live.
Implementing Change. Directed the conversion from legacy systems to an ERP WM in over 70 manufacturing plants in North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Involved 1000+ end users. 97% of facilities were shipping in less than 24 hours from Go Live.
Expanding Channels. Managed the retrofit of an existing stores' DC to accommodate the start-up of e-commerce fulfillment. Existing store fulfillment was not impacted. One of the first multi-channel DCs in this consumer segment.
Tracking Assets. Architected the technical development of an RFID project to serialize engines and spare parts for advance shipping notices to customers. Implemented remote function calls and tested the system for Go Live.
Automating Processes. Expanded a Robotic Process Automation Center of Excellence to automate frequent rules-based tasks with supply chain partner data. Utilized Microsoft Power Automate resulting in improved partner data accuracy and efficiency.
Outsourcing Operations. Consolidated multiple satellite warehouses into a centralized third party logistics (3PL) facility. Increased flow-through capacity by 30%, order accuracy to 99.9%; inventory accuracy up 700 basis points, and removed a day of cycle time.
Integrating Systems. Guided the design and IT integration of case handling robotics to host systems. The automation included depalletizers, conveyance, palletizers, and wrappers. Improved order picking accuracy to 99%+ and reduced shipping damages.
